Business Excellence Awards
Paul Ranson, President of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce

The CGU Launceston Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards continue to grow in prestige and reputation year on year, with this being the seventh year for the Awards.
With the launch of the 2010 Awards we approach an exciting time of year, a time when the wealth of talent and creativity in our region is exposed and celebrated.
The number and quality of entries in 2009 reflected some incredibly innovative and well-established companies along with exciting new ventures. The degree of talent, risk-taking, and entrepreneurial attitude displayed by businesses and organisations in our region continues to be exceptional and illustrates that many of our businesses are meeting the challenges of competing in a global environment.
In 2009 we made a number of changes to the award structure, which were hailed as increasing the relevance and value of the awards program. This year we have introduced two new categories: Northern Young Professional of the Year, which supports the recently formed Northern Young Professionals Network and Excellence in Manufacturing.
The chamber is very grateful to general and category sponsors that make the Awards possible. I also applaud the enthusiasm of businesses that prepare and lodge entries – without you there would be no Awards.
The judges have been appointed and will be seeking businesses that display
innovation, resilience, quality and reflection.
Feedback from previous entrants confirms that there are significant benefits
from just entering. The preparation and adjudication process will require you to
observe your company objectively and to assess performance and direction. I also urge you to consult with your team when putting in an entry as there is a correlation between the winners of previous awards and those who actively involve their team in making the nomination.
I would encourage you to take this opportunity to let our community know about the excellence of your business and people.
