Regional focus

The Launceston Chamber of Commerce is parochial in its support of Northern Tasmania in terms of promoting sustainable and appropriate economic development and social wellbeing for the region.

Unity

There is strength in numbers - a single voice is rarely powerful.

The Launceston Chamber of Commerce represents members collectively.  This representation may be for the majority of the total membership on issues such as industrial relations, air access, changes to trading environments, changes to legislation or in maximising outcomes for the region as a whole.  Alternatively, the Chamber may represent like industry or business groups on specific issues affecting their sector.

Individual members often do not have the resources or time to lobby on their own behalf.  If an issue is affecting a group of members the Launceston Chamber of Commerce Chamber may take up an issue on their behalf.

The Voice of Business-Effective Lobbying

Diversity of membership means that the Launceston Chamber of Commerce is in a position to make assessments from a holistic position. If the Launceston Chamber of Commerce believes that the region will be disadvantaged by Local, State or Federal Government decisions, it can lobby on behalf of members.

Referrals

As an obvious first point of call for new businesses to the region, the Launceston Chamber of Commerce helps to ensure the creation of links with member businesses.

Referrals to member services are offered by our staff and via communications such as mail outs, the E-Newsletter and the website.

This referral system may be to professional services or suppliers, potential export contacts or to facilitate partnerships.

Issues

The Launceston Chamber of Commerce is often the first to identify and address specific issues affecting individual members, industry groups or the region.

Via email links to members we can survey to ascertain responses and act accordingly.

Education

Through forums, lunches, seminars and topic specific discussion the Launceston Chamber of Commerce provides members with exposure to information and education relevant to their businesses.
