BUSINESS EXCELLENCE RECOGNISED AT PRESTIGIOUS AWARD NIGHT

Lou Clark, Executive Officer of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce congratulated 17 Northern Tasmanian businesses recognised at this year’s CGU Launceston Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Gala Dinner at the Albert Hall on Saturday 4th September.

Such was the quality of entries that 30 finalists were chosen from over 70 entries and interviewed by the independent three member judging panel.

Ms Clark said ‘These Awards recognise the contribution that our finalists and winners make to the economic, social and cultural growth of our dynamic business community. The Chamber believes that supporting businesses today will lead to growth and prosperity in the future and continue to make Northern Tasmania a premier place to live, work, visit and invest’.

‘The Awards provide a unique opportunity to recognise local businesses and organisations and the partnership between the Launceston Chamber of Commerce and CGU Insurance along with support from local media and sponsors aims to develop a business environment that encourages all businesses in the Northern Tasmanian region to strive for excellence.’ she said.

‘For the second year running Pivot Maritime International has won the CGU Business of the Year Awards. Pivot Maritime International is a Tasmanian company operating on the world stage and investing in areas of development in a tough marketplace with a great level of risk. The Judges considered Pivot Maritime International to be a worthy candidate for the Business of the Year, proudly Tasmanian and very bold.’

Ms Clark said ‘For the first time since the Awards were established seven years ago we have also recognised an individual. The Northern Young Professional of the Year Award, won by James Harding from the Harding Group recognises and encourages the achievements of a young professional in the region who has demonstrated a noteworthy commitment to excellence, innovation and the community in their profession.’

CGU State Manager Pat Campbell also congratulated the finalists and winners for their achievements. ‘CGU passionately believe that these Awards make a significant contribution to driving business success in the region. “CGU Insurance is extremely proud to once again be the major sponsor of the Business Excellence Awards and it is our hope that the organistions that have won this year will be recognised as leaders and mentors in our community’ said Mr Campbell.
