State Budget 2010

The Launceston Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the cross party review of the state tax system as announced in today’s State Budget but business in the North has generally missed out.’ said Executive Officer, Lou Clark.

‘The Government has delivered on it’s pre-election commitment to implement cuts to land tax, however we would point out that any cross party review of the state tax system must be conducted in a robust manner, must engage those who have the appropriate expertise in this area and must include consultation with business groups. Private enterprise is one of the main drivers of our economy in the North and should be included as part of any tax review. This review will take Tasmanian business into the future so it’s imperative that we get it right.’
